titular concerns

The title of this blog was originally chosen in reference to the fact that I was living on a different half of the world. As I have returned to the first half, I was considering changing the name.

However, I think I may stick with it, mostly for the simple reason that I am still halfway around the world from somewhere else, and a good chunk of the world away from lots of other places wherein potential readers may be lurking.

Maybe I'm stretching a bit, but it also seems a fitting blog title in a more abstract sense. Not that far from what? From who? Blogs are at once intensely personal and impersonal. They can expose parts of a personality readers would otherwise never see, yet they are always knowingly written for a broad audience. Their intimacy and informality can be awkward in light of the fact that there's no such thing as a one-sided connection.
